There is a ladder system which has different leagues. There is Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, and Grandmaster.
Before being placed in a league you do a few qualifying matches to see what level you play at. So you can be number 1 in your league, but that being said it might be the silver league which means you still have room to improve, yet should be very happy about your successes!
Master League |
After a while, it will place you against people from a higher league than you to test your skill and see if you need to be moved up a league. It would be unfair to be practised enough to be in Diamond league and be in the silver league dominating everyone that stands in your way.
Grandmaster League |
I plan to achieve Master/Grandmaster level of play, as I said in previous posts. At the moment I play at Gold/Platinum level which is quite low considering my aim. But hopefully we'll see the improvement along the way.
Because of this ladder system, I believe Starcraft 2 to be quite accessible to a wide audience. From casual 20 minutes a week to hardcore hours and hours a day, there's a space for everyone in Starcraft 2. Even if you just want to mess around and play, there's always custom games too. Which I will explain in the future, as that's a whole other section.
Thanks for explaining it, it seems like a game that almost everyone can use and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWow you seem to take this very serious. I hope you get your carreer going pretty well! I am goign to follow you ;D
ReplyDeleteDidn't really know how that ladder system works before. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteSeems like a good idea, playing people of a similar skill, far too many times with some games I'll either be playing a beginner or someone who destroys me in minutes.
ReplyDeleteThose emblems are pretty intense. I'd love to be that good at an RTS like this but I just can't seem to get a hang of it =p
ReplyDeleteCool I guess its accessible to people of all skill levels.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the detailed info, man.
ReplyDeleteClearly i'm top league.
ReplyDeleteBIZZZATCH.
:D
Damn, grandmaster league must be hard as hell.
